Ms. Fionah is currently serving as the Principal Human Rights Officer UHRC Gulu Regional Office (GRO).
Before her current portfolio, she had risen through the ranks starting as a volunteer in GRO in 2007. She was elevated to Human Rights Officer in charge of Education in 2009. Due to her commitment and diligence, in 2021 she was chosen to establish Lira Regional Office which covers Lango Sub-region as Ag. Regional Human Rights Officer. She was then promoted to Principal Human Rights Officer in 2022. She was transferred to the head Gulu Regional office in July 2023 where she is currently stationed.
Ms. Fionah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (Social Sciences) from Makerere University-2006 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from UMI-2018. She has attended short courses in Human Rights Policy in Seoul, South Korea (2017), and Human Rights training in Namibia (2023).
She is passionate about human rights work and it is her wish that Uganda achieves a society that respects human rights and fulfils its duties, responsibilities and obligations. She wishes to see a world where all human beings are treated with dignity.
Ms Fionah derives great pleasure when sensitizing the rights holders and duty bearers. She specifically appreciates it when the rights holders appreciate and pledge to change for the better after HR awareness raising. The fact that public recognizes that they have not been respecting human rights and need to change and above all fulfill their responsibilities.
When Ms Fionah was an HRO-E, one of her achievements which has an everlasting impact is that she wrote a human rights song supported by GIZ which teaches about equality and nondiscrimination (sung by Bosmic Otim). This song is listened to and appreciated all over Northern Uganda.
She has been able through HRPC to inculcate a culture of human rights in students and many are always excited when they meet her. Through the clubs, students know of rights, laws, duties and responsibilities, through debates, public speaking and communication skills enhancement among others.
