Regional Human Rights Officer, Jinja Regional Office

Mr Nyende Farouk is a Principal Human Rights Officer, currently serving as the head of Jinja Regional Office. Before his current portfolio, Mr Nyende has risen through the ranks, starting off as Human Rights Officer in the Directorate of Research, Education and Documentation in 2007 and later, in 2009, transferred to the Office of the Chairperson as Senior Human Rights Officer. In 2013, he was posted to Fort Portal Regional Office, where he served as head of office until his transfer to Masaka Regional Office in 2015 and later to Jinja Regional Office.

Mr Nyende holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Islamic University In Uganda, Mbale (2001) and a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies (specialising in Human Rights, Development and Social Justice) from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague – Netherlands (2012). He has attended various other courses including; Good Governance course convened by the Good Governance Programme, Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa (2010); Management Skills Improvement course, Uganda Management Institute (2010); Critical Interdisciplinary Course on Children’s Rights, University of Gent, Belgium (2016), among others. 

He is passionate about social justice for the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.
