A section of Members of staff from; the Head Office, Central and Masaka Regional Offices including Director Regional Services, Ms. Sarah Nakhumitsa, RHROs, Ms. Juliet Logose, and Ms. Jashimin Nambi have participated in a training on equity and non-discrimination today at Kabira Country Club.

With support from the Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum (HRAPF), the training was officially opened by Ms. Pauline Nansamba Mutumba, Director CILs, who underscored the importance of community sensitization on inclusion and the need to uphold and protect the rights of all marginalized groups.

"Discrimination in any form is inconsistent with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and Article 21 of the Constitution of the republic of Uganda," she said. In his welcome remarks, the Executive Director of HRAPF, Mr. Edward Mwebaza, noted that his institution was the first institution to establish a Legal Aid Clinic for vulnerable groups, including sex workers.

Participants attended a session on the concept of marginalization, facilitated by Professor Sylvia Tamale, during which she explored the various forms of marginalization and its impact.

Additional sessions focused on the impact of Uganda's legal framework on Key Populations (KPs) and the Commission's mandate in promoting and protecting the rights of key populations. These sessions were facilitated by Ms. Cyella Hilder, Legal Officer at HRAPF, and Ms. Hope Bagota, Senior Human Rights Officer at UHRC, respectively.

This one-day training, is aimed at strengthening the capacity of UHRC staff to promote equality, combat discrimination, and advance the rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the course of their work.
