Agirembabazi Willy is a sociologist by Profession with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, specializing in Sociology. He also has a Diploma in Leadership Skills.He has a wealth of experience, stretching for over 15 years in human rights work. He worked with the Foundation for African Development, an indigenous human rights Non Governmental Organization for over 8 years in various positions.
He later joined the Uganda Human Rights Commission in 2005 where he has served in various positions, including the current one where he is serving as a Regional Human Rights Officer, Fort Portal Regional Office. During all these years of service, he has participated in designing human rights programs, coordination and management, partner capacity building, research, Monitoring, Evaluation, report writing and documentation at community, district, national and regional levels. In course of work, he has participated in relevant short courses and attended various national and international conferences/workshops which have further enriched his career and widened his knowledge and scope in the field of human rights. The most recent regional assignment being a member of the East African Community Election Observer Mission in the Republic of Burundi and the United Republic of Tanzania. In addition, he helped to start a local Non Governmental Organisation by the names of Ankole Civil Rights Association which has been in existence for over a decade now, having been founded in the year 2000.
Willy is currently pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Human Rights at Makerere University and a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies at Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi and his key areas of interest include Civil and Political Rights and the Rights of the most Vulnerable sections of the population.
