A total of 54 employees of Uganda Human Rights Commission participated in a one day medical camp that was organized by International Medical Centre (IMC) on Wednesday 8th May 2019. A team of six well trained medical personnel from IMC, Park Royale Branch camped at UHRC Headquarters’ at Twed Plaza- Lumumba Avenue and carried out medical checks on the health status of employees.
“This exercise consisted of cheeks for high and low blood pressure, breast cancer on the part of the ladies and other blood checks for HIV/AIDS among others,” the head nurse Zubaida Nakalube said. The other members of the medical team included; Esther Kamanrwa, Tumwesigye Kenneth, Livingstone Wasswa, Ruth and Prudence.
Nakalube lauded the staff of UHRC Human Resource Office who worked closely with IMC personnel to coordinate the medical camp which has made the exercise of today a great success.
Commenting on the exercise which took place in the UHRC boardroom from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Nurse Nakalube said “The process was okay; however, people were busy and therefore in and out. One enters to check his blood, rushes out to go do some work and comes back to check pressure and again rushes out to do work.” According to her, the back and forth movement of the employees slowed down the process since only one person could be handled at a time.
The team appreciated the UHRC for allowing them carry out the medical exercise and commended the people who turned up to be checked. The team of doctors called on UHRC employees to always go for regular medical checkups as a preventive measure and to also get treatment for any health related issues: as good health is key in human life.
