UHRC Holds A Conference To Launch The Development Of The National Action Plan On Human Rights

The Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) together with The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) are organizing a one day conference which will take place on 14th August 2013 at Common Wealth Banquet Hall, Speke Resort Munyonyo. The main objective of the conference is to launch the development of the Uganda National Action Plan on Human Rights as well as celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and plan of Action.

The anniversary will provide an opportunity to officially launch the process of developing the Uganda Action Plan for Human Rights, a voluntary pledge that was made by the government of Uganda during its participation in the Universal Periodic Review in October 2011. This conference will also take stock of international development since the Vienna Declaration and to bring to the forefront the progress Uganda has made in terms of living up to the commitments enshrined in the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action.

This conference will be attended by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Hon. Kahinda Otafiire,Principal Judge Hon. Justice Yorokamu Bamwine, Chief Justice High Court of Uganda Hon. Justice Benjamine Odoki, Minister of Finance Hon. Maria Kiwanuka, Deputy Attorney General/Minister of State for Justice & Constitutional Affairs Hon. Fredrick Ruhindi and Mr. Med S.K Kaggwa Chairperson UHRC among others
