The Uganda Human Right Commission (UHRC) is gearing up for the coming Second Taxpayers’ Appreciation week after confirming participation early this week.
The event which is being spearheaded by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) will run from September 26-28, 2018 under the theme “Stronger Together” and will bringing together over 150 government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as private companies to showcase programs and activities implemented by taxpayers’ funds and give back to the community.
The event will be preceded by regional taxpayer visits and a National CSR where all MDAs are required to participate. The Commission will participate in the event’s exhibition to be held at Kololo Independence ground and will offer on spot complaint handling/registration/free legal services, institutional information on the mandate, functions and location of the Commission including its countrywide offices; provide on spot responses to inquiries about the Commission’s mandate; distribute the Commission’s publications like brochures and reports etc.
The Commission will also offer to the public who will visit its stall branded giveaways to selected members of the public.
Other participants in the event will include the Judiciary, Parliament of Uganda, Uganda Prisons Services, Uganda Police Force, Uganda Coffee Development Authority, Uganda Heart Institute, Uganda Electricity Generation Company, Uganda Registration Services Bureau and Ministry of Gender Labor & Social Development.
The others are; Petroleum Authority of Uganda, Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, National Forestry Authority, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Makerere University Kampala among others.
The event is being supported by Communications Officers in various MDAs, under their umbrella association – Government Communicators Forum (GCOF).
A press launch into the activities preceding the Taxpayer Appreciation week was held at the URA headquarters today (Wednesday) September 5, to publicize the event and mobilize the general public to actively participate.
