Director Research, Education and Documentation

Mr Byonabye holds a Bachelors of Arts in Social Sciences Degree from Makerere,University Kampala and a certificate in Computer operations from Computec System Solutions Ltd, Kampala.

He worked for the Uganda Electoral Commission from 2000-2002 as a Data Editor and participated in organizing the 2001 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Council Elections. He joined the Uganda human Rights Commission in 2003 and worked under the Directorate of Research, Education and Documentation first as a volunteer and later as a Human Rights Officer for 5 years.

In April 2008, he was transferred to Fort Portal Regional Office where he served as Regional Human Rights Officer for 2 and ½ years before relocating to the Northern Uganda Regional Office-Gulu where he served as the Regional Human Rights Officer as well as Programme Officer for the Internally Displaced Persons Transition Project (Protection and Mixed Solutions for IDPS in Acholi Sub Region). He has also participated in several local, Regional and International Human Rights Training programmes

His areas of interest are human rights issues pertaining to the most disadvantaged people, democracy, good governance, peace and development
